About

Lamar Dodd School of Art – Ceramics

As a companion to the 216,500 sf Lamar Dodd School of Art, the Ceramics Building totaling 14,752 gross square feet provides the same fundamental Art-Making spaces found in the original building in an economical setting. The design team embraced the idea of a simple, prosaic pre-manufactured metal building and expressed it as an exoskeleton with simple Art-Making Spaces based on the “Z” Purlin and steel bent module. The Hardie Panel and storefront façade honor the 20’ module found on the original Lamar Dodd School of Art while expressing the pre-manufactured building aesthetic.

As a Project Manager for the University of Georgia’s Office of University Architects, I have been working directly with Tony Menefee on various projects for the past 10 years ranging in size from master plan studies up to the $40M design and construction of the Lamar Dodd School of Art completed in 2008. I can without reservation recommend Tony Menefee as someone whose architectural design expertise and construction administration experience is of the highest caliber that can be found anywhere in this country. I know that I can always trust Tony Menefee to provide an integrated, aesthetically profound architectural scheme, as well as thorough concise construction documents.
– Linda Henneman, Project Manager, UGA Office of University Architects.
